Meet the 106th Executive Board
Akua Acheampong (she/her)
Akua is sophomore from Cincinnati pursuing a major in Political Science with minors in Public Law and Intergroup Relations & Justice. During her time at CMU, Akua's involvements include Student Government Association as a representative and as Treasurer, Student Budget Allocation Committee, Towers Resident Assistant, Orientation mentor, Alternative Breaks, National Black Law Students Association as Vice President, planning committees for on-campus events and projects, and more!
As Student Body President, Akua will improve efficiency and engagement within SGA using pragmatic solutions to address current issues.




Kathryn House (she/her)
Kathryn is a junior from Flint pursuing a double major in Political Science and English with minors in Public Law and History. Throughout her time at CMU, she has been actively involved on campus, always striving to amplify student voices and drive meaningful change. Her previous roles within SGA include serving as Sustainability Chair for two academic years, being the Senator for the College of Liberal Arts and Social Sciences, and a Constitution & Bylaws Committee member. Outside of SGA, Kathryn is involved in the Academic Senate, the Student Sustainability Fee Committee, the Campus Ambassador, the Infusion Dance Team as Secretary, the Women in Law Association as Treasurer, the Orientation Mentor, the Community Council Advisor for the Original Towers, and more!
As Student Body Vice President, Kathryn works to strengthen student engagement, enhance transparency within SGA, and champion initiatives that promote inclusivity and sustainability on campus. She organizes and leads SGA General Board meetings, leads SGA’s cabinet, and bridges the student body and administration. For her last year at CMU, she is committed to being an approachable, action-oriented leader who fosters meaningful dialogue and drives impactful change for any and all students.
Carnell is a junior from West Bloomfield pursuing a major in Law & Economics with a minor in Public Law. Throughout his time at CMU he has been involved on campus in many ways including as a MAC Scholar, Kappa Alpha Psi as President and Undergraduate BOD member, Inner City Inclusion as Founder & President, Campus Ambassador, Host of MLK Week Planning Committee, CM Life Advisory Board member, IMPACT Mentor, National Black Law Students Association, Phi Alpha Delta, one of seven selected Maroon Ambassadors for CMU Homecoming, and more!
As Student Body Treasurer, Carnell will bridge the gap between students and their government, ensuring that those who feel unheard receive the support they deserve while maintaining strong resources for those already satisfied. He will be an accessible, solution-driven leader who takes decisive action to address the challenges faced by student organizations and individual students.
